EU Tasks Committee

EU Tasks Committee

As an initiator and founding member of the European Federation of Data Protection Officers (EFDPO ), a new field of activity is opening up for the BvD. In order for the umbrella organization founded in July 2019 to become operational, the individual member associations are organizing committees and working groups at national level to support their work in the European association. These teams will also work together across borders, for example to prepare joint papers for the committees in Brussels.

The BvD Executive Board set up the “EU Tasks” committee for this purpose, whose first constituent meeting took place on March 11, 2020. The committee initially focused on developing an EFDPO position on the GDPR evaluation based on the national positions of the member associations, producing content for the new EFDPO website and contributing to EFDPO position papers. In addition, the committee sees itself as a link to facilitate the exchange and cooperation of other BvD committees and working groups with their counterparts in EFDPO partner associations. Finally, the committee could also play a supporting role in future EFDPO meetings and events such as parliamentary meetings or specialist conferences at EU level.

The committee is open to further members who would like to actively contribute their international data protection expertise and contacts. Prerequisites for participation are a good command of written and spoken English, other language skills and a willingness to travel in order to attend meetings with EU partner associations in Germany and abroad if required.
