Code of conduct is approved
The State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg, Dr. Stefan Brink, has approved the national "Trusted Data Processor" code of conduct. The "Trusted Data Processor" code of conduct gives German companies the opportunity to obtain legal certainty in the area of order processing. Through standardization, Trusted Data Processor ensures simplification both for those who are subject to the code of conduct and for their customers and business partners. Of course, this also means potential cost savings.
Codes of conduct are an instrument introduced with the GDPR that is intended to specify data protection requirements. Experts from the professional associations "Berufsverband der Datenschutzbeauftragten Deutschlands (BvD) e.V." and "Gesellschaft für Datenschutz und Datensicherheit (GDD) e.V." played a key role in the development of Trusted Data Processor.
By making a voluntary commitment to the "Trusted Data Processor" code of conduct, processors make it clear to the outside world that they both follow the requirements set out in the code of conduct and are subject to monitoring by a monitoring body. The monitoring body is the point of contact for complaints and regularly monitors compliance with the code of conduct.
With the approval of the code of conduct, DSZ Datenschutz Zertifizierungsgesellschaft mbH was also accredited as a monitoring body. DSZ processes the applications for voluntary commitment and handles the monitoring and processing of complaints.
On the DSZ website at www.verhaltensregel.eu, interested parties can find the Trusted Data Processor code of conduct, which is full of detailed samples and approved by the supervisory authority, and can use it free of charge as a tool for their daily work - regardless of whether or not they are officially subject to the "Trusted Data Processor" code of conduct. The website also contains an overview of current and former self-committed companies as well as further information on how to apply for the voluntary commitment.
