EU Tasks Committee
As an initiator and founding member of the European Federation of Data Protection Officers (EFDPO), a new field of activity is opening up for the BvD. In order for the umbrella organization, which will be founded in July 2019, to become operational, the individual member associations are organizing committees or working groups at the national level, which will flank the cooperation in the European federation. These teams are also to cooperate across borders, for example, to prepare joint papers for the committees in Brussels.
For this purpose, the BvD Board established the committee “EU Tasks”, whose first constituent meeting took place on March 11, 2020. The committee’s initial focus is on developing an EFDPO position on the GDPR evaluation from the national positions of the member associations, producing content for the new EFDPO website, and contributing to EFDPO position papers. In addition, the committee sees itself as a link to enable exchange and cooperation between other BvD committees and working groups with their counterparts in EFDPO partner associations. Finally, the committee could still be involved in a supportive way in future EFDPO appointments and events such as parliamentary meetings or technical conferences at EU level.
The committee is open to further members who would like to actively contribute with their international data protection expertise and contacts. Prerequisites for participation are a good command of English, both written and spoken, as well as a willingness to travel in order to attend meetings with EU partner associations in Germany and abroad, if necessary.
