BvD creates Data Protection Media Award (DAME)

Movies and clips on the topic of data protection will qualify for the award

Data protection must be explained comprehensibly to offer everyone the same opportunity of protecting his personal data in our complex digital world. Citizens must be aware of laws and regulations must be transparent. This is why the Association of Data Protection Officers of Germany (BvD) offers the Data Protection Media Award (DAME).

The DAME award was officially launched on the occasion of the BvD Association Day on Thursday in Berlin. Film producers, productions, video producers, youth groups, associations and initiatives may enter their feature films or documentaries, video clips or animated contributions until 1 November, 2017.
A jury comprising data protection and media experts will evaluate the contributions in terms of technical presentation, comprehensibility, target group appeal and originality.

Interested parties may obtain the conditions and form for participation in the Data Protection Media Award (DAME) at: https://www.bvdnet.de/datenschutzmedienpreis/. Winners will be presented their awards on the occasion of the Association Day 2018. The prize of EUR 3 000 will be awarded annually in future.

This year, the BvD Association Day will be held under the motto “Data protection in Europe – from theory to practice”. It will through lectures and workshops address the implementation of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in German law. Guest speakers will include, among other, the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Andrea Voßhoff, the Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for the Economy, Uwe Beckmeyer, and Gerd Billen, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Justice.
